Multibrand Customization

Objectives: Understand what is multi-brand customization and where it can be used.

Use Case: A company called “XYZ Corporation” manages three different products. Each product has its own website, applications, and user base. However, the company wants to provide a unified login experience across all three products by using Okta.

By leveraging Okta’s multi-brand customization capabilities, XYZ Corporation can create a separate branded experience for each product within the Okta platform which includes customizing the login page, logo, colors, and other things to align with the brand identity of each individual customer.

For example, when users visit the login page for Product X, they will see a customized login interface with Product X’s logo, colors, and other elements. Similarly, users accessing product Y and Z will face a different login experience customized for the respective product. However, all three product users are utilizing the same Okta authentication and authorization services.

In today’s world many companies are using this feature. One of the examples of this is like Tata group. Tata group owns many different brands like Starbucks, Ajio, Big basket. All these brands have different branding due to which the customers have a different user experience and just by seeing these brands interfaces it’s not easy to identify them as a Tata group’s owned brand.

What you need: multi-brand customization enabled in Okta tenant.
How to setup:
  • Go to Customization -> Brands.
  • Click on create Brand and give the name for your brand.
  • Click on the brand which you want to customize.
  • You can customize Theme which includes adding Logo, customizing Background etc. It customizes the appearance of all the pages in okta.
  • Under the Pages option you can customize sign-in pages, error pages and end user dashboard.
      • In sign-in page you can customize the design of the page, change the headings as well as names of the username and password fields label.

    • Similarly, you can change the design of the end-user dashboard and error pages.
  • Under domains you can add the custom domain for your brand.

End User Experience:

There are two brands setup in the okta tenant named Trevonix and TrevOkta. When a user from Trevonix accesses his okta his login experience is different from the TrevOkta user.

When user logs in from Trevonix brand: The login page of this brand has a different logo, it has a custom domain configured so the URL which enduser accesses is also a custom URL which doesn’t has okta. Username field is changed to LoginId. We can see the background color is purple and end-user dashboard has green color.

When user logs in from TrevOkta brand: Here the logo is changed, the background and end user dashboard colors are also different. The login page has Username field named as Username and also the URL is different from the trevonix brand.

To conclude the topic multibranding feature of okta can completely customize the branding experience of the end users like adding a custom domain, changing the labels in the login page, changing the color and logo of the brand. Trevonix has helped many organizations to achieve the multibranding functionality which lead their customers and employees to have a seemless user experience.
